Pumpkins everywhere! As soon as you enter the parking lot, the whole farm is just decorated with pumpkins galore. I felt like a little kid! We were trying to find the pumpkin patch so we went into their store to see if there was an entrance into their farm. Instead, we got lost looking at all the yummy goodies and produce they had for sale.
They had seasoned vegetable chips, pies, fruit logs, jerky, produce samples,
and so much more, yum!
and so much more, yum!
We found the pumpkin patch, but we weren't allowed to go in.
I guess it doesn't work that way anymore. I remember Albusel's Ranch when I was younger. You could go and pick out your own pumpkin and one of the people who worked there would harvest the one you wanted right from the dirt. But I guess they did all the harvesting and they had them all at the front of their storefront.
Sooo many to choose from! I really wanted a huge pumpkin but I don't know if I would have the strength to carve such a monstrosity. We picked 2 out. A medium one for Diva Pumpkin Carving at Ashley's and a smaller one for me to draw on.
I like this picture I took of Andrew. I bet he was thinking,
"I wish I had my own farm....of records..."
Hahaha...
We decided to go back to the car and drop off our pumpkins so we could go exploring. We couldn't go into the corn mazes or get on the tractor ride because they were about to close and it was about $11 per person to do all the fun Halloween stuff. So we kept looking around and we saw a huge cage with peacocks in them, and right next to it was a petting zoo that was still open.
This is Wilbur, a fancy chicken. He got out of his cage and Andrew tried to chase him.
Another fancy chicken.
They had fancy pigeons, too.
They had fancy pigeons, too.
I felt bad for this duck. He looked like he was wearing a lucha libre mask. The tenant said he's heard that the red stuff growing on his face is a tumor and that he's blind and deaf. I guess the original owners tried to find a rescue for him but no one would take him so Murray's did and he's been there ever since.
Andrew struck up a conversation with the tenant and he introduced him to a couple of temperamental billy goats and a horse that acted like Eeyore.
Here's a video of Andrew petting the animals:
This goat was funny because he just straight up laid down in the trough eating everything in it.
I took this video of them using a water spout as a scratching post.
Before we left, I wanted to get a funny picture of Andrew by their tractor/pumpkin display at the entrance of the farm.
love you two cuties!
ReplyDeletelooks like Murray's had a lot going on this time of year. Scott and I took my nice I think last year or the year before and there was nothing going on. No animals, no fruit to pick, nothing hahaha
