Giant Robot Post-Its 7 Exhibit and Balconi Coffee

Me at GR2 Post It 7 Art Opening

After Andrew was done with his record shopping excursion, we headed to Giant Robot for their Post It's 7 Exhibit. I'm really glad we made it before almost all of them were gone. They were selling like hotcakes and I was scared I wasn't able to see all of them. I took a ton of photos, only because I didn't think I was going to have enough time to look at every single one. Here are some of the photos I took.

Andrew was really sweet. There was a calendar that I spotted on their website and I was hoping to score it while we were at the show. He actually found it and bought it for me without me even showing him what it was. It was so awesome! I was so stoked beyond words! =)

After I got my fill, Andrew wanted more coffee before we headed on home. So, I found Balconi Coffee on Yelp. It said it was only 5 minutes walking distance from GR2 so I used Google Maps as my guide and started walking. We walked almost 3 blocks down. Nothing but dark streets and houses. I was getting a little freaked out and my phone was dying. So, I suggested we walk all the way back to the car and just use the GPS in the car to find this place.

As soon as we got into the car, we flipped a U, made a right turn, and bam, we were there. Haha, we were walking the wrong way the whole time. Good thing we turned back! Anyway. The place this cafe was in was just so damn confusing. It was called the Olympic Collection and it is 3 floors of balconies covered in plants so you can't see anything!

The Olympic Collection
They were everywhere!!! Walls and walls of these damn plants on every frickin' floor!!!

We decided to drive into the parking garage and asked the man who was working where Balconi was and he said (in a very heavy accent, I think he was Armenian) that it was on the first floor.

We parked the car and started walking around. We were so confused because it was all banquet rooms for weddings and conferences, things like that. We couldn't find this place at all! Up and down the floors we went and couldn't' find Balconi. So we walked all the way back down to the first floor and found a Pinkberry's. I asked the kind lady where Balconi was and she said it was right around the corner. We did just that, spotted some red umbrellas and tables and finally found it.

Balconi

Such a cute little coffee shop. Plus they had custom made ornaments hanging on their walls.

Siphoned Coffee at Balconi

They had a siphon coffee bar. Andrew was pretty much in heaven. The Asian lady who was working was super nice too. She really knew what she was doing (coffee-wise). She brewed probably (besides Andrew's latte) one of the best almond lattes I've ever had.

Mocha from Balconi

Andrew ordered a mocha. He finished so quick because he wanted to try their siphon coffee. But the process was going to take too long and it was getting super late. We had to get home to our puppies. Luckily Andrew's parents came over to let the dogs out for potty time. I was also missing them like crazy!

This ended our night in LA. Had a great time and glad Andrew scored some records and had a very nice birthday record trip!
