Transmission LA and My Little Pony Project

Our friend Bobby told us about the Transmission LA exhibit at the Geffen Moca that was curated by Mike D from the Beastie Boys. The exhibit was only going to be up for 14 days or something like that and I really wanted to go. Turns out, Andrew wanted to go record shopping that Sunday and I asked him that if we could stop by the MOCA to see if the exhibit was still going on. Turns out, it was the last day and it was free!

I loved these twirling patterned circles!

I called this the video game room. It seriously felt like you were in a video game haha. I did not want to leave this room. Here's a little video:

Since it was in Little Tokyo, we ended up walking around. We found this street art of Andrew's favorite character in Planet of the Apes.

We also went to the shopping center on Alameda to pick up some Macarons.

Andrew couldn't wait to eat them, so we opened them up. I cannot decided which ones were my favorite ones but I loved the rose flavored and salted caramel flavored ones. Yum!

Next we went to Amoeba where we ran into Theo, a bouncer that used to work at The Scene (this venue we used to go to in Glendale). It was really cool seeing him. When I walked in, I saw him but I didn't think he'd recognize me. Then he pointed at me and then I just started laughing and he gave me a huge hug. We found Andrew and he gave him a big hug too. We got to chat a bit and then he had to get back to work. Andrew also ran into the guy that works at Headline and they chatted up a storm too.

Then we went to Freakbeat and Headline Records. So glad we got to go to Melrose because there was the My LIttle Pony Project going on in the Toy Art Gallery. Some of my favorite artists did some pieces in the exhibit.

I had a couple of My Little Ponies growing up so this was a pretty nostalgic exhibit for me. I really loved it!
While Andrew was finishing up at Headline, my cousin Maricar and her Mom came to meet us. It was perfect timing that she was in town and I got to see her before she left! We went to Umami Burger which was something me and Mars wanted to eat before she left for Philly. We finally go to eat there together! Everything was mighty tasty!

Twas a great day!
