When Marz Came to Visit 8-1-14

August 1st, Marz arrived via the bus and I was so happy to spend the whole weekend with her. It's been so long since she's came and visited me and plus she just moved back from Philly, living in LA again, so it was nice that she took the time to visit so she could get back to the rat race and find a job (which she got within the first two weeks she got back, haha).

She kept saying, "It's so hot!" Hahah, yeah I warned her! As soon as I picked her up, we were hungry, so we went to have some lunch at Muertos. I've never had their tacos so they were a nice surprise. They were fully loaded with meat, lettuce and cheese, yummy! We had a couple IPAs and we shared a glass of their sangria (which was bomb, btw).

We went to Trader Joes for some groceries and some tasty alcoholic beverages and headed back home to relax because she was so exhausted. They overbooked her bus (she was supposed to leave super early) and poor thing had to wait until the next bus to arrive. But we just put on movies, got to hang out with Jasper and we all took a nap when Andrew got home from his first job.

When she woke up, she watched Amelie (because she's never seen it!!!) and we ate green tea mochi and macarons...oh yeah and had some beers haha. I asked her if she wanted to go to First Friday but she said it was too hot. However later that night, she changed her mind and so we decided to possibly bar hop and have some drinks out in the hotass weather of the Bakers Field. Since we were already drinking, I wanted to try Lyft. Ever since I saw this YouTube video, I wanted to try it.

FOHDY!

When I signed up I got a promotional thing for 50 free rides within 2 weeks so I just thought, might as well try it! It's pretty nifty, we requested a driver and we could watch his car on the map to see where he was. We got ready super fast and when our driver arrived, we were kind of sad that he didn't have a pink mustache on his car. He said that they've been lacking about providing drivers with their signature pink mustaches for their cars. But he was nice and he mentioned he was from Venezuela.

He dropped us off at the Padre where I had a beer and Marz had her whiskey. I had pictures of this moment on my phone but they disappeared boo!

Next, we walked to Dagny's to visit Andrew and they were closing up. It was cool because we ran into our homies who were hanging out at Dagny's that night.

Andrew was super busy so we walked to Sandrinis. They were charging so we walked over to the Alley Cat. There we just had a couple of beers and we chatted up a storm. Lot's of laughter and funny conversations with this lady always! Andrew then texted us and told us he was at I Am Tacos and so we walked there and ordered some of that yummy goodness.

The next morning Andrew made us his yummy omelets and we made Maricar watch Hunger Games 1 and 2 because she has never seen those movies! What?! Mind boggling...she really liked them though, she said they made her tense and she was furious the third movie hasn't come out yet haha.

We got ready and went to go visit my Tatang which was a sweet moment. Event though he is approaching 90, I am so thankful to God that he still has his memory, is still strong and sharp as a needle. Maricar enjoyed showing him pictures of her Mom and of her time in Philly.

We also got him some butterscotch lollipops from See's which he surprisingly tried. He usually doesn't like to be introduced to newer candy. He likes to stick with his Werther's Originals, Coffee Nips and his Riesens. He didn't finish it though, he threw it in the trash when he was half way done with it. He was so happy and was being silly, making us laugh and just being my ole silly Grampapa. It made my heart very happy.

Then we picked up Andrew and we went to Eureka burger where I tried the beer sampler and Mars had an IPA. We also shared the Western Burger...it was so yummy!

It's so crazy how bad her sweet tooth is! It's probably equal to Andrew's! So, after dinner we took her to Rosemary's and we had ice cream.

The rest of the night was super chill. Andrew played us some records while we talked over some wine. She also brushed Jasper for me haha. I've never seen the backyard so hairy after that.

The next morning, we went to go check out the Farmer's Market and we got some vegetable chips, Rig City Coffee beans and a cup of their cold brew. I also got to finally try Cody's Meek's Pickles! The pickled okra is so so so good!

When my Mom was done with church, we went to have some Thai food and it was nice they got to chat it up and do some catch up. We love Thai House, it was amazing! Look at my Mom documenting the food, haha.

Then we went home and she gathered up her stuff. We ended up spending the rest of her trip down at Dagny's. I brought my book and laptop but we just ended up talking the whole time and being creepy, people watching and all.

When it came close to her time of departure, we went to the Padre and had a farewell shot of some pretty good Vodka. I've never heard of it but it was actually pretty yummy! I waited with her until her bus arrived and then we said our goodbyes.

It was such a fun weekend to catch up and hang out with her again. She's pretty much a sister to me! It's been way too long and I'm so glad she moved back so I can now jump in a car and not on a plane to see her!
