When I say "Filla" you say "Pino"!

After all the years I've been wanting to go to Filipino Weekend in Delano, I finally made it! We picked up my friend Veronica on the way (she lives in McFarland) and were supposed to get there around 1pm but Andrew had eBay stuff to do, so we didn't get there until about 3pm. Sooo, we pretty much missed what I wanted to see which were the Filipino Folk Dancers.

All wasn't lost though, we got to watch a lot of hip hop dance crews, Sikaran fighting skits, watched a band with a female lead singer with an amazing voice and walked around with boba in hand, yum! There was also some Filipino rappers from LA who sounded pretty good. The title of this post is referring to what the rappers were chanting. They were throwing shirts and hats into a crowd of little kids and it was pretty entertaining to watch these kids play tug of war with the merchandise. Some of the booths had some pretty funny t-shirts and we found a booth that sold traditional Filipino wood work, including the infamous head hunter that you can find in almost every Filipino home (I know we had one growing up in my Nanang's house).

I didn't get to have any Filipino food though. I stood in line for pancit and lumpia, and when it was my turn to order, they told me they were out! What?! Well, what they meant to say was that they are cooking more and it was going to take a while. But it was 100 degrees outside, I wasn't going to wait in line anymore. I had to get me some shade, haha. Sooooo, Andrew and I ended up sharing a Teriyaki Chicken bowl with rice and he got himself a 2nd serving of Thai Tea with boba.
