Recap 2015 Part 2

More moments from 2015...Sorry, this one is a super long one :P

-------------------------- JULY --------------------------

July 4th we went swimming at Arturo's parent's house and then I went home and spent the rest of the night with my puppies. Shawn hates July 4th.

Random Boo trip to LA.

Hanging out at Donut Friend. Reading and donuts while I waited for Andrew shopping at the record store across the street.

Brite Spot diner in Silver Lake. Andrew loves this place.

The only pic from Priscilla's mini baby shower brunch at the Padre with the Diva Girls.

Mikayela cut my hair.

Mrs. Mantis growing big and strong.

Crazy storm. We hung out on the porch with our coffee as we listened to the thunder and watched the lightning.

Ptolemy bear cuddles.

Joaquin turned 3! Such a cool cake!

We went to WWE Live at the Rabobank Arena. It totally sucked because we got stuck sitting in front of a bunch of drunk assholes screaming in our ears the whole time.

Went to LA to have cuzin time with Marz. We spent the whole day in Malibu, went wine tasting and took our bottles to the beach. It was a fun day splashing in the water, relaxing, and beach time.

The next day we spent exploring DTLA. Started at Blue Bottle Coffee.

Then the Ace Hotel and had an old fashioned on their rooftop bar.

Then we were hungry so we went to Cole's for their French dipped sammies and another old fashioned, ha!

Then we went down the street to The Last Bookstore. Which is the one of the most magical places on Earth!

Then we went to Fantastic donuts because they were down the street from Mars' house and they were so cute. I saw them on IG.

I took Mama Sheryl and Karli out for Sheryl's bday. We watched Inside Out and I absolutely loved it. Especially Lava, the short Pixar film in the beginning. Ahhhh, gives me all the feels!

Baby August was born into the world! Congrats Priscilla and Arturo!

Finally a good picture of Shawn!

We took a random trip to Fresno.

Checked out their mural district. For some reason I thought there was going to be a ton of murals in this area, but really, there was only one big one.

Enjoying a cup of tea at Teazers. Best tea! I also started this book, which is really funny because I recently picked it back up and I'm finally finishing it.

-------------------------- AUGUST --------------------------

Andrew met August for the first time.

Having fun with Joaquin

Mrs. Mantis all grownsded up chewing on a fly.

Done with the Doc's office. In July, I decided to not be scared of doctors anymore and booked a checkup and decided to get myself healthy.

Well, as healthy as I could, haha. Had lunch with my Mom at Los Molcajetes. It was really good.

My Mom and her Sephora trips. We got our eyebrows filled in haha.

Andrew adopted a street cat and named her Lillian. We thought she was a little kitten but we took her to the vet and turned out she is around 8 or 9 years old and due to her affectionate behavior, she probably belonged to someone previously. Whether or not she was abandoned or ran away from home, we'll never know. What we did find out though is that she's hustling us and the next door neighbor. Who knows who else she's hustling haha.

Went out on First Friday for the first time in God knows when with these two ladies. Had a blast!

Went over to Steph's house for Jeremy's birthday. We got to meet all their new parrots. One of them bit the shit out of Andrew's elbow haha.

Random plays with my handsome dude.

Did the trails with the puppies.

Andrew's friend Ryan, from San Fransisco, stayed with us for a night and we all left for LA and Long Beach the next day. They hung out while Mars and I went hung out in Silverlake. Little did we know there was a street fair going on (I forgot what the event was called). But it was about 3 blocks of businesses, restaurants and bars and each one had live entertainment and food and drink specials. It was the ultimate bar hopping experience. Thankfully we got out of there before it got too packed and we met Ryan and Andrew in Long Beach at Berlin/Fingerprints.

 Drinks at Berlin.

Alex's Bar in Long Beach.

The old fashioned drinks were ace!

I like taking pix of my Mom at In and Out because it truly makes her happy!

I don't think this was our mantis but I'd like to think it was.

And the biggest most happiest event of the year...we found out we're going to become a Mommy and Daddy! We are expecting a baby girl in early May. It has been such an exciting and happy adventure so far and we can't wait to meet her!

-------------------------- SEPTEMBER --------------------------

Hangs with P and baby August at Dags.

 This is 33.

I heard there were going to be tsunami waves up at the northern beaches so we went to San Luis Obispo for my birthday.

We stopped at DeCouer for some treats first and had brunch at our favorite diner, Milt's

We stopped at this coffee shop. Too bad I don't remember the name because it was pretty yummy!

Tsunami waves my ass! But nonetheless, twas a wonderful birthday.

Mars came and visited for the weekend for my birthday. It was fun having some cuzin time.

 Dinner at the Padre

Next morning we made bunny butt pancakes. Which was the funnest thing ever! Haha they turned out so cute!

 We chilled and watch movies.

And then cuzin wanted to watch football so we checked out a new brewery that opened up called Temblor.

Yeah, I brought a book with me, haha.

-------------------------- OCTOBER --------------------------

Went down south for a family reunion. So glad my brother and family could make it!

We took a break and went to the San Pedro pier to get some crabs for my Mom. That place is crazy! It's like a huge cafeteria that goes on for a few blocks along the docks where boats and a couple of cruise ships were ready to depart. I've never seen a cruise ship up close. It's so huge!

At 8 weeks, we heard the baby's heartbeat and got to see her for the first time. I was a mess! I cried like a baby just hearing her heart beating! Such an amazing moment and it's the best sound ever! Andrew held my hand the whole time and he teared up too. I will never forget that moment.

I checked out the Pet Market by Trader Joes and I got my dog's a poop shaped treat.

 Jasper roaming around the backyard.

For our two year wedding anniversary, we decided to go to Portland, Oregon and we had THE BEST TIME EVER! I knew I was going to like exploring the city because everyone just raves about that place but I didn't know I was going to absolutely fall in love with it! We want to go back pronto.

This was our first plane ride together and with Andrew being deathly scared of heights, he did pretty well!

We were walking distance from a few streets aligned with restaurants, bars and specialty dessert shops so as soon as we got situated in our hotel room, we walked to the nearest Thai restaurant called Thai Bloom.

Never fails that Andrew would find a donut store. I had the buttermilk old fashioned donut and it was one of the best donuts I've ever had! The locals kept telling us don't bother going to Voodoo. Blue Donuts is where it's at!

We took the lightrail everywhere and just spent the whole time exploring the city. The city is absolutely beuatiful and the air is so fresh and so clean. I just felt so relaxed and at ease the whole time. Plus, FOOD TRUCKS GALORE! Just blocks and blocks of food trucks. We wanted to eat everything!

Of course we stopped at Stumptown Coffee :)

We walked and stopped in every record store and comic book store we could find. We also tried to walk over the bridge and realized it might be better to take Uber to the other side haha. We also checked out Voodoo Donuts but the line was so ridiculously long that we didn't want to waste our time here waiting in line for donuts, that the locals claim "they ain't all that."

Powell's Books, OMG. I would hang out here everyday if I lived here haha. This monstrosity of a bookstore was so overwhelming I don't even think we hit every room!

We were hungry for pizza and we found this place right across the street. Andrew was sad because they were playing super loud pop punk music haha.

We went to back to the hotel to rest for a little bit and then we took Uber across the bridge to his friend Abe's record store also in a super cute neighborhood. He invited us to go to a documentary screening about this band called The Dicks so we went with him to this place called The Analog Cafe & Theater. We ordered burgers and enjoyed the documentary. After, a couple bands started playing and Abe asked us if we wanted to go to a show at another bar. So, of course, we tagged along. We arrived at Club 21 which looked like a cute little cottage. It was pretty neat. There was a skinhead looking dude that claimed he knew us but we didn't know who he was. His sister was also named Maylanie so that was pretty cool! The bands who played were pretty good but with me being pregnant and all, I was getting tired and so we headed back to the hotel.

It was Andrew's first time using Uber and he loved it! He chatted up a storm with all of our drivers. He especially liked talking to the old man who took us home that night.

The next morning, before heading to Washington Park and the zoo, we walked down the streets again to find some coffee and breakfast.

And got some yummy ice cream!

This photo just doesn't do the scenery justice. The neighborhoods we walked through had the most beautiful and colorful trees. Portland is sooooo beautiful in the fall! We were so lucky too because someone told us that it's supposed to be raining by now but it was chilly and a little sunny the whole time which made walking around even nicer.

Taking the lightrail to Washington Park. We were sad that the Japanese Gardens were closed for construction but at least we got to go to the Zoo.

They closed the petting zoo and Andrew felt withdrawals from not being able to interact with the goats.

This polar bear was taking the biggest dookie of his life.

For our anniversary dinner, we went to the Moderna where Andrew's friend is the head chef at a restaurant called Nel Centro. Unfortunately, he was not working that night but we had the most amazing meal and they comped our dessert which was so nice!

I forgot to take a picture of Andrew's meal but he had the fish with mushroom risotto. The dessert had rosemary sugar glass and the ice cream was rosemary lemon. It was amazing!

This hotel was so cute too! After dinner, we walked around even more to see if there was anything we could hit up, but it was getting dark and a lot of the places closed early. So, we just headed back to the hotel and I relaxed while Andrew's friend picked him up and they got to hang out and chat up a storm at a bar/restaurant in our area.

We woke up to rain the next morning. We checked out of our hotel and we headed to a cafe down the street, had breakfast and coffee and waited for flight to get closer. Then we ended up taking an Uber back to the airport earlier than expected and Andrew had the driver stop at Blue Star Donuts so he could take a box home with us.

It was funny because in the security line, there was a couple in front of us who had a box Voodoo Donuts and the security guard messed with them telling them they couldn't bring it onto the plane and they had to throw it away. We were so sad because we thought we had to do the same! But they were joking. Then he came up to us and he whispered, "You guys have the better donuts." Haha, that made us feel good!

Homebound, waaaaah!!!!

For Halloween I decided to be a last minute racoon.

Our annual visitors dressed up so cute!

Andrew loves passing out candy every Halloween. We had Jasper out and everything and the kids loved looking at him. The kids are a hoot every year with the things they say!

-------------------------- NOVEMBER --------------------------

Andrew had his first bowl of ramen.

Me and Mo at Designer Con!

I got to meet Mab Graves. One of my favorite artists!

At 16 weeks, we made an appointment with Girl Alex and she gave us the honor of telling us we were having a baby girl! It was so cool watching her on the big screen. It was such a happy, memoriable and emotional day for us! She also put my name in for a drawing and I won so I can't wait to go back to see how much she's grown!

We went to Steph's house for Thanksgiving Dinner. They had two turkeys and Little John cooked one of the turkeys all by himself. It was so good!

 Hanging out with their birds.

I played catch with Little John while Andrew swung Karli in their tree.

Boo's birthday invite I made.

The girls at Andrew's 37th birthday party.

His cake, after I failed 2 times at making it. They kept breaking on me which made me break down and cry (we'll just blame the hormones).  Haha, it turned out though so yay!

Shawn buddying it up with Ash while the girls sang karaoke.

One morning, I made crepes for breakfast and they turned out bomb!

We went to my cousin Lyman's 30th birthday party in Lancaster. It was Star Wars themed and he had the most badass cake. Those light sabers lit up! Wow, I just realized a lot of people turned 30 this year!

My first time making an apple german pancake and it was super yummy!

And I'll save the month of December for another post. I didn't realize how crazy long this one got!
